Day 7: Rest Day at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park

April 21, 2014

Today was cloudy and rainy. We had planned to go to the St Louis zoo (and probably could no more than it rained) but it was so cloudy when it wasn't raining the pictures wouldn't have been very good.  We decided stay in the park, do some hiking on the trails and get some of the mundane things done that have to be done when you carry your home with you.  You know, things like laundry, and vacuuming, etc., plus repacking the basement compartment we had to empty to repair the fill tube yesterday.  We also worked on planning out the next few days of travel.  The intermittent showers allowed us to take a really nice morning hike on one of the bike trails.  We sure are glad we were hiking it because some of those hills would have been killers for us on a bike.
 Our usual view of trails
We seem to be following spring northward.  The flowers here are about 2-3 weeks behind those at home.  The daffodils are blooming along with the red buds.  The dogwoods are just opening with none of the brilliant white of full bloom.  There are some nice wild flowers blooming.
Of course now we get to experience all the pollen again too.  We did some more hiking and geocaching here in the park this afternoon.  We like this park and would come back again because there a lots of trails we haven't hiked and it is so convenient to St. Louis.
Our site at Babler SP (and Anne blogging after supper)

We do plan to go to the zoo tomorrow morning when it is supposed to be sunny and then head on west tomorrow afternoon.
