July 25, 2014
Well, it rained most of the night and
continued this morning until about 8:00. Morning temperature of 53.
After the rain finally stopped it was a
gray, cool, cloudy day. We were able to get a good hike in this
morning and certainly didn't need sunglasses or sun screen – trying
to stay positive about this weather. We went over to the lake and
hiked on the bike trails. There were lots of ducks with baby
ducklings out this morning. The lighting was really bad so no good
pictures of the ducklings.
Later in the day we had to run into
town to pick up a few things like windshield washer fluid. Went
through two little showers while we were out running the errands.
Yep, we have had so much rain/mud/dirt on the windshields that both
vehicles needed a refill. Took the whole gallon we bought, so still
don't have any extra to carry. Hopefully as we head back south we
will have better – read "dryer" – weather. Fewer construction zones
and dirt roads would be nice too.
After we got back home we were watching
an afternoon movie and shock – the sun was all of a sudden shining
thru the windows. We stopped the movie and headed out. Can't waste
any sunshine! We got the bikes out and had a really nice afternoon
ride. We rode over to the flood control dam and levy. We saw the
high water mark for the last flooding in the area in 1992. Wow.
Glad we weren't here then and understand why they need all this flood
control. We weren't the only ones that quickly took advantage of the
weather change. When we got to the lake there were already people
out in kayaks paddling around. They rent kayaks, canoes and paddle
boats here.
If the weather is nice tomorrow we might get our boat out. We really hope to do some more hiking and biking, however currently at 9:30 pm it is raining again. It appears to just be a little shower – we hope.
